Great list of sites! The only one I think is missing is Blog Engage. Brian rocks! Thanks for the links.

@Ileane: Hi Ileane, great to see you here. Thanks for the reminder! Just added BlogEngage (need a 1 time fee)!
And I will add a great tutorial site for Blogging, Theme design and Videos Tutorial Site

@Henry: It seems like a pretty new site without Alexa ranking info. It probably won’t have any benefit to submit your link to it at the moment…
@Ming Jong: Brian just started charging the one time fee this month. I think you gave me a good idea for a Twitter contest with the prize being a BE membership fee. I’ll be in touch with you about it soon. Thanks!

If you subscribe to one of Blog Engage’s RSS Membership services, they will waive the one-time-fee to join. Their “Bronze Membership” (which I subscribe to) is $1.99 a month. That makes it affordable and you can cancel it at any time if you decide that it’s not for you.

@Sherryl Perry: Thanks for the news! BlogEngage is definitely a great place to be! To those who are really on a shoe string budget but still love to get into BlogEngage community, you can contact BlogEngage and let them know your situation. Check out the bottom paragraph of their page –> http://www.blogengage.com/register.php
I was really surprised BlogEngage wasn’t on the list as it has more traffic and a larger community than every other site listed in the Blogging Community section. It is membership only though and costs $29.99 to join, however I wrote about how you can join and get registration for far less by joining the RSS Syndication Program.

Helpful stuff. Hadn’t realize there was a sign up fee for BlogEngage now either so I’m glad to have an ear into this conversation too.

@Justin Germino: BlogEngage has the highest alexa rank among the blogging communities and I am sure the benefit will definitely outweigh the 1 time fee. Still you can contact them if you really struggle to pay for the fee yet still eager to join! Very comprehensive review for BlogEngage. Good job!
@Salman @ Tech Blog: No worries Salman! Glad you enjoy the list.
@Jym: Hi Jym, great to see you here. This will definitely drive lots of traffic coupling with the great content

@Ming Jong: It sure will mate. Thanks for digging my comment out of spam. Are you using Akismet by any chance?
I found it ‘spammed’ too many genuine comments, so I switched to GASP instead…
Jym recently posted..How to get More Google Plus One Clicks While You Boost Your Business
@Jym: No worries mate! I am using Akismet. Just checked out the “Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin” you mentioned, it will basically add a checkbox to confirm not a spammer. I have however a captcha box instead.
Anyway, will give it a go
Thanks!
Ming Jong recently posted..Viral Marketing Tip – One Little Known Secret To Create Viral Campaign
That’s true Ming Jong, it will basically perform the same function as Captcha but in a simpler way. The effect (as I’m sure you’re well aware) is to knock out all spambot comments in one go. So you won’t need both running.
Manual spam is a harder issue to deal with – I get a few spam comments fairly regularly, which I have to moderate myself. But the alternative is activating Akismet, which means I have to moderate genuine comments out of spam and back onto the posts!
So it depends which way you want to do it…
Let me know if you find any better solutions!
@Jym: I get what you mean. I will try out what you suggested. and monitor it along the time
Thanks for the head up. I’ll keep you updated should I come across other great solution!

Hi Ming,
First time here. Your comments on FamousBloggers got my attention.
Anyway, I really like promoting my blog with tutorial sites and blogging communities. However, how would you use those Design News Aggregators if your niche is a totally different one? I mean dont you have to publish design related posts?…
Satrap recently posted..Make Money with Google Places- Step by Step Guide
@Satrap: Hey Satrap. Thanks for stopping by
I found that tutorial sites and design-newz & webdesign-ne.ws send me most of the traffic. For those design news sites, you can only promote your posts that are gear towards design related post. They do accept Blogging, Internet marketing, etc.. niches.
Similar to tutorial sites, most of them are gear towards web design, photoshop, CSS, etc…Only a few of them accept blogging & IM types of posts. I guess if you niche is totally not relevant (such as weight loss, dog training, etc…), you can’t submit to them (all submitted posts are moderated…).

Not sure about blog. I prefer forum marketing. You can always do a search in Google, i.e. your niche directories + forum. I usually stick to forum as I gained decent traffic from them.

Great list, but I have a question for you. What’s the best way to promote my new site (www.listburn.com) that is NOT a blog-based site? I’m trying to leverage the power of the blogger and social media, but not sure “where it belongs” if that makes sense. What are your recommendations?
Thanks,
Steve

@listburn: Hi Steve, as long as your site contain content that belongs to design niche such as internet marketing, SEO, make money online, tutorial, WordPress, etc…you are free to submit to those news aggregator. For Blog Bookmarking, there are more categories for you to select (not limited to those mentioned above). The key here is to have content related to the sites and submit them for review and approval.
For social media, you can definitely create a FB, Twitter, G+ account and spread the word there. Hope this help.

@Shari: Hi Shari, the easiest way to build you site is using WordPress, with your own hosting and domain if you are building your business. If you are doing it as a hobby just go for the free WordPress or Blogger site to play around. If you are not familiar with WordPress, I do have a free course (30 step by step videos) where you can access for free via my fan page. You can refer to the WordPress Mastery sales letter for more information.
